Census 2011
All those living in Italy, even foreigners, are required to answer the questions
Those who do not answer risk a fine and to be cancelled from Anagrafe (Italian Register Office)
The latest Census of people and housings started on the 9th of October and all foreign citizens legally living in Italy are also required to respond to the questionnaire.
The purpose of the Census is to "count" the population and to collect information which will be used as a starting point for developing appropriate development policies and plans, taking into accounts the diversity of local realities found throughout the country.
Every family will receive the questionnaire at home, but it is also possible to fill it online. Those who did not yet receive the papers can go pick them up to the centro comunale di raccolta (city collection center, which in Rimini is located in Via Bidente 1/p at Comune di Rimini, sede decentrata di quartiere), or wait for a city employee, called rilevatore, to deliver it at their home. On November 21st the rilevatore-s will begin their house-by-house visits.
Responding to the Census is a legal duty. Those who choose to fill the paper version should return it to post offices or their city's centro di raccolta-s (collection centers).
Anyone who fails to provide his or hers data, or provides it false or incomplete, is liable to a fine up to 2000 euros; immigrants also risk to be removed from Anagrafe records and thus loose their legal status as Italian residents.
The deadline for filling the questionnaire is November 20th!
